GEOMETRIC GLASS HOUSE

The client was after a unique bold design that responded sensitively to their existing Victorian terraced house. Stylus Architects produced a number of designs, of which the Geometric Glass House was favoured as a design concept to explore.

The designs incorporate a living wall, green roof and moulded stone coping along with a LED strip light that frames the extension on both the top and bottom. The form pitches and tapers out, dramatising the rear façade while accentuating its A-symmetric form which is further emphasised by the Crittal glazed screen and glazing bars. The timber frame follows the form, creating harmony with its mass while also being practical by providing solar shading.

The Floating Brick House was derived from this scheme. Through the development of the designs and feasibility, the form was simplified and the drama maintained.
