SCANDI - CHIC
The aim of this project was to restore and transform a run-down 1930’s property into a modern home, while being respectful to the buildings original character and surrounding area.
As this was an investment property for the client, the budget was tight. Stylus Architects had to be innovative to create interesting spaces without exceeding the budget. This was largely achieved through the use of reclaimed materials from the existing house which bought new energy to old bones.
The floorboards were sanded down and refinished, the floor joists were reused and exposed in the extension. Reclaimed bricks were salvaged from the demolition work to create softer touches inside. This resulted in the creation of a transitional home which is both modern while keeping connected with its more traditional past.
