SIMS MEWS

Stylus Architects designed a new office building for a private client just off a busy high street. The new structure is sandwiched between a Victorian building and a 1990’s office building which is slightly set back from the main façade.

The design of the new structure is minimal yet dramatic, with an emphasis on the ground floor entrance. Upon entering the light and open double height space of the entrance hall, the visitor is instantly enticed towards an attractive minimalistic reception desk that bleeds into the concrete steps. These steps rise to access a Gustafs linear rib clad box that cuts through the floorplates creating a visibly contrasting core which points the visitor into the heart of the building.

The sense of drama is increased as the bridge canterlevers over the seating area. The interior architecture is a waymark with the layout designed in such a way as to guide the visitor through the building with limited signage.
